Mailworxs , also Mail Alliance ( proper spelling : mailworXs or mail alliance ) is an association of regional private German postal companies (mostly newspaper publishing subsidiaries). The aim of the association is to set up its own nationwide nationwide delivery network for letters weighing up to 1000 grams in competition with Deutsche Post AG . The network partners together achieve a turnover of 370 million euros. The possible market share is estimated at up to six percent.

history

The association based in Würzburg was founded on January 19, 2010, and business operations began on January 25, 2010.

The managing director is Michael Kunter, previously managing director of the logistics division of the publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck belonging Würzburg newspaper publishing house Main-Post and the letter Portals economail.

The main function of the Mail Alliance is to coordinate the individual service providers. It continues to appear externally under the established brands of the regional member companies. Four distribution centers ( HUBs ) have been set up. In the long term, all partners of the Mail Alliance should use a uniform IT system and thus be able to offer the same quality standards and guaranteed transit times. First of all, the internal transfer prices in particular are adjusted. Outwardly, the prices vary depending on the customer. The advantage of the Mail Alliance is that the regional postal service companies can now offer nationwide delivery and no longer have to deliver the items to Deutsche Post AG at the expense of loss. In addition, the company's own delivery networks are better utilized.

The Mail Alliance has been a member of the De-Mail network since May 20, 2010 and will take over the hybrid delivery for the De-Mail providers of United Internet AG.

At the beginning of December 2016, Postcon applied to the Federal Cartel Office to take over the majority of PIN Mail AG and the nationwide mail network Mail Alliance. So far, Postcon has held an equal share in both companies in a joint venture with the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group .
