The Citipost GmbH is a regional postal service providers based in Hanover and a wholly owned subsidiary of Madsack Media Group . Citipost GmbH also works in the Lower Saxony and Bremen area with other postal companies in the context of franchising in a brand partnership. According to its own information, it processes up to 300,000 consignments a day (as of 2015).

history

Mail delivery started in February 1999. In 2005, 26 million items were delivered (in 2012 it was 44.4 million). In June 2007 Citipost became part of the PIN group, but was bought back in April 2008 by the Madsack publishing company . In September 2008 the company renamed Citipost GmbH again .

Citipost-Verbund-GmbH was founded on August 11, 2009. The aim of the new company is to create a joint offer in the field of mail delivery. The networking of the individual shareholders, who collectively cover an area with more than 11 million inhabitants, will in future be carried out via the Verbundgesellschaft. Further goals are: Uniform logistics structures, quality standards, timely exchange of letter volumes, the support of major regional customers and the connection of the network to cooperations with postal service companies in other parts of Germany.

Furthermore, a main transshipment base (HUB) will be built near the motorway between Hanover and Walsrode. All 24 partner companies are involved in Citipost-Verbund-GmbH. These are all postal companies with holdings from the respective regional newspaper publishers.

In November 2009 Citipost GmbH set up 76 letter boxes in the Hanover city area so that customers with a smaller volume of letters can use Citipost's services in Hanover. But not only in Hanover there are letter boxes, for example Citipost Bremen, in cooperation with Bremer Straßenbahn AG ( BSAG ), installed letter boxes (CITIbox) in all rail vehicles in 2007.

Citipost GmbH is a founding member of the Mail Alliance ( Mailworxs GmbH). Mailworxs GmbH was founded on January 19, 2010 under the leadership of TNT Post Germany .

Since December 1, 2011, Citipost stamps have been sold in 94 Penny branches in the Hanover, Hameln, Hildesheim, Nienburg and Peine regions. The mail service provider developed a series of stamps especially for Penny with the advertising slogan “First to Penny”. In the future, there will be a Citipost mailbox in front of almost every Penny branch. Postcards and letters are sent nationwide.

Citipost GmbH has been transporting all mail across Germany since February 24, 2012.

Business activity and results

The spatial delivery area of Citipost GmbH includes "a large part of Lower Saxony with the regions Hanover, Nienburg, Gifhorn, Wolfsburg and Peine".

In the 2012 financial year, 44.4 million items (including letters forwarded to Deutsche Post AG for delivery purposes) were carried by Citipost GmbH; In 2011 there were 44.8 million shipments. Sales in the 2012 financial year amounted to around 20 million euros, the net loss for the year was around 729,000 euros. Citipost GmbH closed the 2011 financial year with an annual deficit of around 350,000 euros and sales of around 20 million euros. In 2012 Citipost GmbH employed an average of 115 employees and 4 trainees, in 2011 there were an average of 121 employees and 4 trainees. There is a declaration of subordination on the part of the sole shareholder, Verlagsgesellschaft Madsack .
