Entrance to the Rhineland-Palatinate exhibition on the Mainz exhibition grounds

The Mainz exhibition center , Messepark Mainz-Hechtsheim , is located in the Hechtsheim district of the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz on Rheinhessenstrasse in the direction of Ebersheim . The site was laid out between 2004 and 2005.

Transport links

It can be reached quickly by motor vehicle via the federal motorway 60 . There are parking spaces with around 2,500 spaces directly in front of the exhibition grounds, which have also served as P + R spaces since the Coface Arena opened in 2011 until 2014 . At the two largest events (Rhineland-Palatinate exhibition and Oktoberfest) there is also a bus service operated by the Mainz transport company and the ORN .

Events

Rhineland-Palatinate exhibition

The Rhineland-Palatinate exhibition has been taking place on the specially constructed site in Hechtsheim since 2005, after the previous venue, the Volkspark, threatened to burst at the seams and the residents there also felt disturbed.

Mainz Oktoberfest

In 2005, an Oktoberfest took place on the exhibition grounds for the first time .

Sports

The final of the German team championship in wrestling between ASV Mainz 1888 and KSV Köllerbach in the 2012/13 season took place in a tent on the exhibition grounds. The sports hall “Am Großen Sand” in Mainz-Mombach , the usual venue for the ASV competitions, was too small for a DM final match, for which 4,000 to 6,000 wrestling fans were expected, with a capacity of 1,400 spectators. Larger halls in Mainz, such as the Rheingoldhalle , were not available due to carnival events.

various

Regularly smaller events are the weekly flea market on Wednesdays. The site is also used irregularly by other trade fairs and exhibitions as well as by the entertainment industry , showmen, traveling theaters and circus companies for demonstrations. The “Ramazan and Culture Festival” took place for the first time in the summer of 2013 during Ramadan (July 9th to August 7th, 2013) on the exhibition grounds . The Holi Color Festival also took place for the first time on August 17, 2013 . From 2014 to 2016, the Love Family Park event, previously located in Hanau, took place at the Mainz exhibition center.
