Mallia Franklin

Mallia Franklin (born March 1, 1952 as Rosalind Franklin , † February 5, 2010 ) was an American singer and songwriter for P-Funk .

Life

Franklin acted as a background singer for Parliament and Funkadelic and in 1978 became a member of the George Clinton- produced music project Parlet . Franklin left Parlet in 1979 to start the Sterling Silver Starship project with musician Donnie Sterling. Together they only produce one album, but this was never released. In the following years Franklin founded other music projects. In 1990 she had an appearance with George Clinton in the Prince- produced film Graffiti Bridge . Her first solo album was released in 1994 under the title Funken Tersepter .

During her career, Franklin has worked with numerous artists such as Bootsy Collins , Walter "Junie" Morrison, Sly Fox , Gap Band , Brides of Funkenstein , Fred Wesley , Eddie Hazel , Dallas Austin , Ice Cube , Roger Troutman , Dr. Dre and others together. In 2002 she wrote the song Suited and Booted with the musician Snoop Dogg for his album Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss . During her musical career she recorded over 250 songs.

Franklin was married to drummer Nathaniel Neblett. The couple had a son. For her musical work, she was nicknamed Queen of Funk by her colleagues .
