Man on Wire - The Wire Act (Original title: Man on Wire ) is a documentary by James Marsh from the year 2008. The film is based on the book Above me the open sky by Philippe Petit and tells of his implementation of an unauthorized and therefore illegal high wire run between the twin towers of New York's World Trade Center in 1974. The title of the film was taken from the police report prepared for the subsequent arrest of Petit. The film was produced in the style of a heist movie and presents rare footage of the preparations for the event, photos of the tightrope walk, scenes from the life of the young Petit and current interviews with those involved.
