Aasif Mandvi
Aasif Mandvi (born March 5, 1966 in Mumbai ) is an American actor of Indian-British origin.
Mandvi was born in Mumbai to Muslim parents. When he was one year old he moved with his family to Bradford , England, where he grew up until he was 16. He then moved to Florida with his parents. There he graduated from high school and studied at the University of South Florida .
Before Mandvi moved to New York, he worked as an entertainer at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
He began his career in New York with supporting roles in independent films and in plays in off-Broadway productions. In 1998 he had his first success there with his one-man show Sakina's Restaurant . He received an Obie Award for the show based on his experience as an immigrant .
He was best known for his participation in the satirical news program The Daily Show . After a few sporadic appearances from August 2006 onwards, he has been part of their permanent “ correspondent ” team since March 2007 . He has also been a guest actor in numerous television series.
He is known for minor appearances in films such as Spider-Man 2 (2004), Mitten ins Herz - Ein Song für dich (2007) or Selbst ist die Braut (2009). In The Legend of Aang (2010) he embodies the role of Admiral Zhao.
