Manfred-Carl Schinkel

Manfred-Carl Schinkel (born January 3, 1935 in Braunschweig ; † September 7, 2014 ) was a German judge in Lower Saxony .

Life

Schinkel studied law and received his doctorate in 1971 at the University of Göttingen to Dr. iur.

In 1964 he entered the administrative courts of Lower Saxony. In 1967 he became an administrative judge at the Braunschweig Administrative Court, and in 1972 at the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court. From October 7, 1977 to April 3, 1989 he was a judge at the Federal Administrative Court . After his return in 1989 he was President of the Lower Saxony Higher Administrative Court in Lüneburg until his retirement in 2000. From 1990 to 1992 he was also a member and from 1992 to 2007 also President of the Lower Saxony State Court . Because of his friendly nature and his citizen-friendly judgments, he was considered the "embodiment of the benevolent judge".

Schinkel held lectureships at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and was appointed honorary professor there in 1996 . Since 2008 he has been chairman of the university council of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) . Until the end of 2003 he also headed the legal court of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony for many years; his successor was Ilsemarie Meyer .

Schinkel is buried in Lüneburg.
