Manfred Brendel

Manfred Brendel (born December 14, 1939 in Leipzig ) is a German journalist and former functionary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD) in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1986 to 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber and 1989/90 editor-in-chief of the LDPD central organ Der Morgen .

Life

Brendel, the son of an architect, became a daily newspaper editor after attending secondary school with a high school diploma . In 1957 he became a member of the LDPD and the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB). From 1957 to 1964 he worked as a business and local editor for the Sächsisches Tageblatt in Leipzig. From 1964 to 1970 he was editor of the Leipzig Station of Radio DDR I . At the same time, he completed a distance learning course from 1964 to 1970 at the Berlin School of Economics (HfÖ) with a degree in economics . From 1967 to 1975 Brendel was also editor-in-chief at the Institute for Administrative Organization and Office Technology in Leipzig. Brendel was 1973 at the University of Leipzig with the work "increase the effectiveness of scientific work process interdisciplinary by rational design of information relationships teamwork (exemplified by the Institute of Administrative Organization and office equipment)" to Dr. oec. PhD .

From 1975 to 1978 Brendel was Deputy Mayor of Leipzig and responsible for housing policy. He was also deputy chairman of the LDPD district association Leipzig-Stadt and city councilor of the trade fair city. On February 15, 1979 Brendel became chairman of the Leipzig district association of the LDPD. As of March 1977, he was a member of the Central Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party as a member and was a member of the district day of Leipzig . From 1986 to 1990 Brendel was a member of the People's Chamber. In 1990 Brendel became a member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), as the LDPD merged with it.

From 1989 to 1990 Brendel was editor-in-chief and from October 1, 1990 chief correspondent of the LDPD central organ Der Morgen in Berlin , which was discontinued in 1991. Brendel later worked as a planning editor at the radio station MDR info in Halle (Saale) .
