Manfred Grund (born July 3, 1955 in Zeitz ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and electrical engineer. Since 1998 he has been the parliamentary director of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .

Life

education and profession

Basic graduated in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden and graduated in 1980 as a graduate -Elektroingenieur from. He then worked as a division engineer in the Erfurt Energy Combine , Bleicherode division , until 1990 . From 1990 to 1994 he worked as first alderman and department head in the district administration of Heiligenstadt .

Political party

In January 1990, Grund became a member of the CDU. From 1994 to 2001 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association Eichsfeld and from 1994 to 2003 and since 2013 chairman of the CDU city association Heiligenstadt . Since 1998 he has been a member of the CDU state executive in Thuringia .

He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1994 . Here he has been Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group since 1998 . From 1994 to 1998 he was also a member of the Eichsfeld district council . From 2014 to 2015 he was parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the city council of Heiligenstadt . Grund is a full member of the Council of Elders and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Manfred Grund entered the Bundestag in 1994 and 1998 as a directly elected member of the constituency of Nordhausen - Worbis - Heiligenstadt , in 2002 of the constituency of Eichsfeld - Nordhausen and in 2005 and 2009 of the constituency of Eichsfeld - Nordhausen - Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis I. In the 2005 Bundestag election he received 37.4% of the first votes ; in the 2009 Bundestag election, he was able to improve this result to 43.0% and in 2013 to 49.8%. In the 2017 federal elections , he won the direct mandate in the newly tailored northern Thuringian federal electoral district of Eichsfeld - Nordhausen - Kyffhäuserkreis with 38.0% of the first votes .

Grund visited North Korea in 2013 .

Parliamentary functions

Grund is chairman of the Thuringia regional group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. After the general election in September 2017, he was confirmed in this position by the eight elected members of the Bundestag from Thuringia. He is also a member of the Council of Elders with the Commission for Employee Affairs and the Internal Commission. Manfred Grund is still a member of the following committees and bodies:

Honorary positions

From 1994 to 2002 Manfred Grund was a member of the supervisory board of the Leinefeld housing cooperative and from 2002 to 2011 a member of the representative assembly of the Thuringia fire department accident insurance fund.

He was a founding member and first chairman of the German-Moldovan Forum, which he chaired from March 26, 2009 to November 21, 2015. He is the deputy chairman of the German-Kazakh Society.

Private

Manfred Grund is Roman Catholic , married and has four children.
