Manfred Lindner (saxophonist)

Manfred Lindner (born September 8, 1937 in Gotha ) is a German jazz musician ( soprano , tenor and alto saxophone , clarinets , flutes, arrangement ).

Career

Lindner studied clarinet at the Folkwang University and was active in the big bands of Ingfried Hoffmann and Hermann Gehlen. In 1966 he was a member of the Günter Weser combo on the LP Jazztime with Barbara (from Essen's musical life) , but also in recordings by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr . Between 1967 and 1973 he was a member of the Kurt Edelhagen Orchestra , where he played "a formative role" as a soloist. He also played in the median band of Harald Banter .

In 1974 he moved to the later hr big band , where he worked for almost 25 years and also arranged pieces for this ensemble. He recorded numerous LPs with the Main Stream Power Band under the direction of Heinz Schönberger . The Hessischer Rundfunk also gave him the opportunity to present himself with his own jazz formation Soundtrack .

He then performed with the Hanauer Sugarfoot Stompers , with whom he recorded a CD in 1996. In 1998 this formation was awarded the Culture Prize of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis. In addition, he appeared in many concerts with the New Orleans Connection Jazz Band . He also played with the Mellow Tone Trio . Between 1966 and 1981 he was involved in 13 albums in the field of jazz.
