Manfred Schuster (actor)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Manfred Schuster (born November 4, 1919 in Villach , Austria ) is an Austrian actor , dubbing and radio play speaker .

After more than a decade of theater work, Schuster began his film career in 1949 with the Austrian drama Duell mit dem Tod (also On the Edge of Life ) by Paul May . Since then, however, he has rarely appeared in films and television; He was in front of the camera ten times, including in 1958 as the main actor in the Turkish film Karasu , most recently in 1982 in the Berlin television production Single loves Single alongside many well-known dubbing actors and a year later in the small role of Imperial Minister Franz Anton von Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky in the movie Spring Symphony by Peter Schamoni on the side of Rolf Hoppe and Nastassja Kinski .

Manfred Schuster himself was a very busy voice actor. Between 1954 and 1991 he could be heard in a few films and series, including in his greatest role as Count Orsini-Rosenberg in the first dubbing of the classic Amadeus . He was the voice of Lee Van Cleef in Cannonball Fever and could also be heard as a slave owner in Fellini's Satyricon , as a newscaster in The Tenth Sacrifice and occasionally in episode roles in the series Twilight Zone , Mit Schirm, Charme und Melon and Hart aber cordial . Above all, however, he has worked extensively since 1945 in radio plays for the ORF and later for the RIAS and the SFB . However, his appearances in commercial productions of the Berlin label Kiosk , such as Benjamin Blümchen and Bibi Blocksberg, should be emphasized . Best known today is his recurring role as the school director of the young witch Bibi Blocksberg. Schuster's distinctive and warm voice has a very high recognition value , not least because of his Austrian dialect .

Manfred Schuster probably ended his career in 1991. His last documented work is the radio play Am Sonntag ist Tina-Tag , directed by Ulli Herzog . Since then, there is no information about further work or about his life.
