Manfred Wundram

Manfred Wundram (born August 20, 1925 in Göttingen ; † June 14, 2015 in Waiblingen ) was a German art historian .

Career

After research stays at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence and the Harvard University Center for Renaissance Studies and after several years as a lecturer and lecturer at the State Academy for Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Manfred Wundram was professor for Middle and Modern Art History in the Ruhr from 1970 to 1989 -University of Bochum .

Wundram is recognized as a scientist in medieval and modern art history. Methodologically, his research is particularly characterized by form analysis and style criticism. He has published articles on the architecture of the Romanesque , on the art of the late Middle Ages in Central Europe and on the architecture of the German Baroque . Wundram is particularly dedicated to painting , sculpture and architecture of the Early Renaissance and the High Renaissance. Among other things, he wrote books about the early Renaissance and Renaissance , about Raffael and Andrea Palladio , authored an art guide about Florence and, with Carl Georg Heise, was also the editor of Reclam's monographs on art.

After his retirement, Manfred Wundram lived in Waiblingen and gave regular lectures at the adult education centers in Winnenden and Schwäbisch Gmünd.
