The Mannesmann tower in Hanover was a 120 meter high lattice tower with a triangular cross-section that was erected at the end of 1954 by the Mannesmann company under the direction of Josef Fröhlich in front of the exhibition grounds . The tower had its original location in what was then Stahlstrasse and was donated to the trade fair after the Hanover Fair in 1956. The building was implemented in 1961 and since then has stood in the middle of the turning loop on tram line 8. At a height of 89.8 meters, the Hanover Mannesmann Tower had the Mannesmann company logo on the corners. Until it was demolished, the logo of the Hanover Fair , the stylized Hermes head , was attached to the corners . The Mannesmann tower was used for mobile communications and the non-public mobile land radio service .
According to information from Deutsche Messe AG , the steel lattice mast, which was now getting on in years, was in disrepair, and renovation would have cost more than 500,000 euros. As part of the redesign of the north entrance to the exhibition center, it was decided to demolish it, which was carried out on June 21, 2012.
