Manokotak is a city in the Dillingham Census Area in Alaska . It is located in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge at the northern end of the Nushagak Peninsula . According to the 2000 census , 399 people lived there.

Manokotak is located on the Igushik River , about 40 km southwest of Dillingham .
history
Manokotak was created in 1946/1947 by merging the villages of Igushik and Tuklung. People have also moved from Kulukak , Togiak and Aleknagik . 1958–59 a school house was built and in 1960 a post office was opened. In 1970 the place received city rights .
traffic
Manokotak can be reached from the air and over the water. The state-owned Manokotak Airport (IATA code KMO) is 1.5 km north of the city. The Igushik River meanders very strongly, so since 1998 a 10 km long road has led to a boat landing site on the Snake River. Quads and snowmobiles are the most common local modes of transportation.
