Emergence

The band Manteca was founded in 2004 by drummer Jürgen Peiffer . The quartet played with saxophone, organ, bass and drums until 2007.

The band name Manteca means “ butter ” in Spanish and stands for the buttery sound of the music, which is a mixture of Latin American influences and jazz.

In 2007, the group re-formed around the singer Felicia Touré and has since been working nationally with her concert program “Journey to Brazil”. She performed all over Germany and also presented herself at festivals such as Bingen swingt and the Bayreuth International Jazz Festival.
