Jürgen Melchior Peiffer (born February 9, 1963 in Troisdorf ) is a German drummer , band leader and composer.

Life

Peiffer studied from 1980 to 1985 at the Cologne University of Music (classical music - orchestral exams and music teaching exams) and from 1985 to 1986 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston . From 1981 to 1985 he played in the big band of the Rheinische Musikschule under the direction of Jiggs Whigham . In 1993 he continued his education at the Drummers Collective in New York, USA. From 1980 to 1992 he taught at the Troisdorf Music School, then from 1992 to 2000 at the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf. In 1993 he was visiting professor at the Arnhem Academy of Music for the direction of fusion ensembles. From 2002 to 2003 Peiffer worked as a drum set and rhythm teacher at the University of Mainz . Since 2004 he has been a lecturer for drum set at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf .

Peiffer has been working with national and international show business artists since the mid-1980s. He accompanied the "Mainstreet Orchestra", the Günter Noris Big Band , the Pepe Lienhard Orchestra , the Paul Kuhn Big Band , the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Radio Orchestra , Bobby McFerrin , Joan Orleans, Wencke Myhre , Vicky Leandros , Silvio Francesco and Caterina Valente , Deborah Sasson, Udo Jürgens , Jennifer Rush , Andy Borg , Angelika Milster , Johnny Logan , Roland Kaiser , Bill Ramsey , Jörg Knör , Wall Street Crash, King Singers, Marshall & Alexander , Katja Ebstein , Guildo Horn , Nino de Angelo, Mary Roos , Peter Kraus and the Hr-Bigband .

His preference for Latin and jazz brought him together with the musicians Norbert Gottschalk , Gene Conners , Silvia Droste , Peanuts Hucko , Jörg Kaufmann , Peter Fessler , Rob Pronk , Barbara Dennerlein and Mnozil Brass. With the Big Band Convention, Cologne (1996-2006) he accompanied a. a. Dick Oatts , Jiggs Whigham , Ack van Rooyen , Al Porcino and Conte Candoli . With his Latin & Jazz Quartet Manteca and his wife, the singer Felicia Touré, he plays concerts mainly in Germany. Since 1992 he has been running his own music publisher "ton from".
