Manuel Pío López Estrada

Manuel Pío López Estrada (born May 5, 1891 in Jojutla , Morelos , Mexico , † August 11, 1971 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jalapa .

Life

Manuel Pío López Estrada received on 28 October 1914, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 16, 1934, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Tacámbaro . The Archbishop of Mexico City , Pascual Díaz y Barreto SJ , donated him episcopal ordination on August 5th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Zamora , Manuel Fulcheri y Pietrasanta , and the Bishop of Cuernavaca , Francisco María González y Arias . On October 11, 1939, Pius XI appointed him. to the Bishop of Veracruz-Jalapa. The inauguration took place on December 7th of the same year. On July 13, 1951, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Veracruz-Jalapa.

Pope Paul VI accepted on April 18, 1968 the resignation put forward by Manuel Pío López Estrada for reasons of age and appointed him titular Archbishop of Druas . On December 31, 1970, López Estrada renounced the titular bishopric of Druas.

Manuel Pío López Estrada participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
