The Marau (also Marwah ) is a right tributary of the Chanab in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir .

The Marau flows through the western Himalayas in the northwest of the Kishtwar district . It is fed by the Kanital Glacier on the western flank of the Nun-Kun massif . The Marau initially flows west for 25 km. Then he turns south. It flows through the Marwah-Varwan valley . The river limits the Kishtwar Himalayas to the west. After about 100 km the Marau cuts through a mountain ridge near the village of Sonder . 5 km above the mouth, the Chatroo Nullah meets the Marau from the right.

The Marau finally flows into the Chandrabhaga at Bandarkoot , 5 km north of the district capital Kishtwar , which is named Chenab (or Chanab ) after the confluence . The Marau has a length of approx. 140 km. It drains an area of approximately 4900 km².
