Marc Antonio Carter (born May 22, 1985 in Mechanicsville , Maryland ), called "TJ", is an American basketball player . After his studies, Carter was particularly active as a professional in the German basketball league , where he played for the Giants Düsseldorf and most recently in the 2011/12 season for Phoenix Hagen.
Career
Carter graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and served in the NCAA while studying for the Seahawks college team in the Colonial Athletic Association . His teammates included the two older, later Bundesliga players John Goldsberry and Beckham Wyrick . In 2006 he was named MVP of the CAA final game, but the Seahawks failed in the first round of the NCAA national final . Then Carter, who had previously plagued himself with groin problems, had to undergo a groin operation, which forced him to sit out the following season. In his college season 2007/08, however, he found back to his old performance and was elected to the team of the best players of the CAA, without his team could qualify for the NCAA finals.
In 2008 he switched to the German Bundesliga as a professional to the Giants , who had just moved from Leverkusen to Düsseldorf . His former teammates Goldsberry and Wyrick had also started their professional careers with this team. The following two seasons were not very successful and even ended in a relegation zone in the 2009/10 season . The team's sponsoring company also subsequently filed for bankruptcy. The team was then taken over by a new sponsoring company and completely rebuilt, even if they were able to secure another season in the BBL by purchasing a wild card . Carter then signed a contract in Limassol , Cyprus , but only played one game for Proteas AEL , as this club was also in financial difficulties. It was not until the following season that he signed a new contract in Hagen with the first division club Phoenix. After a year he left the Westphalian club and moved to the top Greek league in 2012 at AGOR on Crete . After retiring as fifth in the main round in the play-off semi- final series against defending champion Olympiacos , Carter moved to league competitor and championship third party Panionios from Athens for the following season.
