Marcel Schantl (born August 17, 2000 ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

Schantl began his career at SV St. Johann / Haide . For the 2009/10 season he moved to the youth team of TSV Hartberg . In August 2016 he played for the first time for the Hartberger second team in the fifth-class league . In June 2017 he made his debut for Hartberg's first team in the regional league when he was in the starting line-up against ATSV Stadl-Paura on matchday 30 of the 2016/17 season and was replaced by Manuel Pfeifer at half-time. At the end of the season he rose to the second division with the Styrians .

After the promotion, Schantl moved firmly into the professional squad. In the 2017/18 season he was able to march straight through to the Bundesliga with Hartberg as runner-up in the second division , but he did not get a job. In the 2018/19 season he could not play a game in the Bundesliga and was only used for the amateurs.

In June 2020 he finally made his debut in the top division when he came on as a substitute for Jürgen Heil on matchday 24 of the 2019/20 season against FC Red Bull Salzburg in the 77th minute . After two Bundesliga appearances, he was awarded to second division club FC Blau-Weiß Linz for the 2020/21 season.
