Marcel Vandewattyne
Marcel Vandewattyne ( Marcel Eugène Vandewattyne; born July 7, 1924 in Ellezelles , † September 18, 2009 in Ronse ) was a Belgian long-distance and obstacle runner .
At the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 , he was eighth over 3000 m obstacle and twelfth over 5000 m . In 1948 he was ninth over 5000 m at the Olympic Games in London .
Over 10,000 m he came in seventh at the Euro 1950 in Brussels and 22nd at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki.
At the EM in 1958 in Stockholm, he finished 19th over 10,000 m and was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary run.
In 1946, 1952 and 1962 he won silver at the Cross of Nations .
He was twice Belgian champion over 3000 m obstacle (1945, 1946), three times over 10,000 m (1951, 1952, 1958) and six times in cross country (1948, 1949, 1951, 1952, 1955, 1957). In 1946 he became the English champion over 3000 m obstacle.
