Marcello Ricoveri
Marcello Ricoveri (* 23. January 1941 in Rovigo ) is an Italian diplomat in retirement .

Career
In 1967 he joined the foreign service. From 1969 to 1961 he was second class legation secretary in Sofia . From 1972 to 1977 he was the second class delegation secretary in Brussels . In 1978 he was second class delegation secretary in Rome . From 1979 to 1982 he was first-class legation secretary in Pretoria . From 1983 to 1986 he was the second class delegation secretary in Lisbon . From 1987 to 1991 he headed the Southern Africa Department . In 1992 he was appointed Envoy Extraordinary and Second Class Associate and Plenipotentiary. From May 21, 1993 to March 2, 1998 he was ambassador in Kampala and was simultaneously accredited in Kigali ( Rwanda ) and Bujumbura ( Burundi ).
From February 28, 1998 to 2001, he was ambassador to Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia ). From 2003 to October 2006 he was ambassador in Lagos ( Nigeria ) at the same time he was accredited in Porto-Novo ( Benin ).
