Marco Weber started for the Chemnitz Speed Skating Club until the 2008/2009 season , after which he moved to the Munich Ice Skating Club from 1883 . Until 2002 he was trained by Heiko Walther, then by Klaus Ebert and from 2004 by Jan Coopmans. In 2001 he took part in the Junior World Championships in Groningen and finished eleventh. A year later in Ritten he just missed a medal in a win by Beorn Nijenhuis in fourth. The endurance specialist finished seventh at the individual distance world championships in March 2005 in Inzell over 10,000 meters.
Weber made his debut in the World Cup in March 2002 in Inzell. His best ranks in the World Cup were 12th place at the World Cup finals in Calgary 2007 and 7th place over 10,000 meters in Erfurt in February 2007. In the overall World Cup, his best placement was in the 2006/2007 season with 13th place. In November 2006 in Berlin he finished fifth in the team with Robert Lehmann and Tobias Schneider . In the overall World Cup in the team, he took third place. He has been German champion seven times, twice runner-up and third.
The 2007/08 World Cup brought 15th place for the overall ranking over 5000 / 10,000 meters. After a long time a medal could be won at the men's individual distance championship in 2008 . With Jörg Dallmann and Stefan Heythausen he was able to secure the bronze medal in the team run. With 7th place over 5000 meters and 6th place over 10,000 meters, Weber was also able to deliver a good result in the 2008 individual distance decisions.
