Amateur career

Marcus Browne graduated from Concord High School, started boxing at the age of 13, and trained as an amateur at Clifton's Atlas Cops' N Kids Boxing Club in Staten Island. In 2011 he won the national Olympic qualification with victories against Sean Bettencourt, Jeffrey Spencer, Jerry Odom and Siju Shabazz and was then sent to the 2011 World Championships in Baku , where the international starting places for the 2012 Olympic Games in London were awarded. Browne defeated Yoshitsuna Okada from Japan and Levan Guledani from Georgia , but lost in the decisive knockout round match against the Russian Yegor Mechonzew .

He therefore had to go to the continental qualification in 2012 in Rio de Janeiro , for which he recommended himself by winning the US championship in 2012. He had defeated Craig Duncan, Mario Davis, Malcolm Jones, Anthony Sims and Steven Nelson. In the 2012 continental qualification, he then achieved first place after beating Declan Calliste from Trinidad and Tobago , Felix Valera from the Dominican Republic , Carlos Góngora from Ecuador and Yamaguchi Falcão from Brazil .

He was thus able to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he was eliminated from Australia in the first fight against Damien Hooper .

Professional career

In September 2012, he signed a professional contract with the US promoter and manager Al Haymon . His coaches are Gary Stark and Andre Rozier . He made his professional debut on November 9, 2012.
