Life

Horn grew up as the son of the mathematician Manfred Horn and the doctor Ursula Horn in Jena . After an early musical education in the boys' choir of the Jena Philharmonic , he received his first drum lessons at the age of 16 . Since he refused to take part in the military classes of the GDR , he was not admitted to the Abitur despite good school performance. So he initially trained as a nurse and submitted an exit application in 1988 , which was only approved in 1989 after the inner-German border had already opened.

After moving to Lower Saxony, he initially worked as a nurse and played in various rock bands. He continued his musical education at private music schools such as the Frankfurter Musikwerkstatt and the Freiburg Jazz and Rock School . 1995–1997 he studied jazz / pop at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar and discovered jazz as the “musical love of his life”. 1998–1999 he continued his jazz studies at Leeds College of Music in Great Britain and supplemented it with master classes and lessons with Peter Erskine , Chester Thompson , Joe Porcaro , Bill Bruford , Holger Nell and others.

Concerts and worldwide tours as well as theater, radio and television productions with artists from various musical genres such as Ed Sheldrake , Ester Ambrosino , Mike Walker , Laura Simó , Pe Werner and Tony Marshall , Sherry Williams, etc. followed

In 1999 he founded the MusicArtSchool in Erfurt , a school for rock / pop / jazz. It is the first private music school in Thuringia that specializes in promoting young talent in the popular music sector. In addition to individual one-to-one lessons on the instrument, the teaching concept also includes joint theory lessons and the interaction of the students in groups (band training). He also gave workshops for drums at home and abroad.

In 2008 he became co-founder and drummer of the Nerly big band Erfurt. In the same year he founded the KuNo-Erfurt cultural association with others and was elected its chairman. He also founded and organized the Jazzs Sunday concert series in the Erfurt press club.

Horn studied music therapy at the Academy for Applied Music Therapy Crossen from 2016. He works partly in the Catholic Hospital Erfurt in the clinics for psychiatry and psychosomatics .
