Marek Bakoš (born April 15, 1983 in Nová Baňa , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak football player .

Career

Bakoš began playing football at his home club ŠK Nová Baňa and moved to the then second division FC Nitra at the age of 15 . The attacker made his first and only appearance in the professional team in the 1999/00 season.

After Bakoš had not been able to prevail at FC Nitra, he moved to the 2004/05 season within the Corgoň league for ŠK Matador Púchov . Here Bakoš quickly established himself as a regular player and scored nine goals this season in his first year in Púchov. After he had scored eight goals in the first half of the following season, the Russian first division club Schinnik Yaroslavl became aware of the Bakoš; he moved to the Premjer League in January 2006 .

In the 2006 season, however, he mostly only acted as a substitute player and remained without scoring and rose with Schinnik in the 1st division . In the 2007 season he scored three goals in the second Russian league, but in July 2007 he moved back to Slovakia for MFK Ružomberok .

After he had scored a total of 16 league goals for Ružomberok in the following two seasons, his former coach from Púchov - the Czech Pavel Vrba - brought him to Viktoria Pilsen in the Czech Gambrinus League in the summer of 2009 .

2011 turned out to be Bakoš's most successful professional year to date: after helping Viktoria Plzen to win the club's first Czech championship title with a total of nine goals, he scored six goals in five games in qualifying for the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League and qualified for the first time with Pilsen for the group stage. On September 13, 2011, Bakoš scored the first Champions League goal in the history of Viktoria Plzen in a 1-1 draw against Belarusian champions BATE Baryssau . In the second leg he scored the 1-0 winner and thus enabled Pilsen to qualify as third party for the UEFA Europa League .

His performances in the 2011/12 season helped him make his debut for the Slovak national team on February 29, 2012. In the 2-1 win in the friendly against Turkey Bakoš was in the starting line-up.
