Marek Forgáč (born January 21, 1974 in Košice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Košice .

Life

Marek Forgáč studied at the seminary in Spišské Podhradie , did his military service and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Košice on June 19, 1999 .

Until 2002 he was active in parish pastoral care and then until 2004 youth pastor at the Center for University Pastoral Care. From 2004 to 2007 he studied psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University . Then he was again active in the university pastoral care in Košice and taught at the theological faculty. Since 2011 he has been Vice Dean for Science and for Doctoral Studies.

Pope Francis appointed him titular bishop of Seleuciana and auxiliary bishop in Košice on June 11, 2016 . The Archbishop of Košice, Bernard Bober , donated him episcopal ordination on September 1st of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Cardinal Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Jozef Tomko , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Slovakia, Archbishop Mario Giordana .
