Margarete Langner

Margarete "Grete" Langner (born Schulze ; born January 19, 1906 in Berlin-Lankwitz ; † July 8, 1992 in Potsdam ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED ). She was a member of the German People's Council and the Land Chamber of the GDR as well as Second Secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam .

Life

Langner, daughter of a servant and gardener , attended elementary school in Berlin-Steglitz from 1912 to 1919 . Between 1919 and 1930 she worked in a radio coil factory and a jewelry chain workshop, as a maid and as a saleswoman or did odd jobs. Between 1930 and 1932 she was unemployed, then from 1932 to 1945 she worked again as a saleswoman as well as a branch manager in a butter shop and as a manager in a pastry shop . Before 1933 she was a member of the KPD and the workers' sports club “Fichte”. After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists, she did anti-fascist work.

In 1945 she was a co-founder of the KPD local group Fichtenwalde . In 1945/1946 Langner headed the nutrition department in the mayor's office. In 1945 she also worked as chairwoman of the anti-fascist women's committee in Fichtenwalde. She was instrumental in setting up the women's committees and the Democratic Women's Association of Germany in Brandenburg . In 1945/1946 she attended the state party school of the KPD and the SED. From 1946 she was a member of the SED district leadership in Zauch-Belzig . From 1946 to 1947, together with Else Bauer , she headed the women's secretariat at the SED state executive in Brandenburg. From March 1947 to July 1952 she was also a member of the secretariat of the SED state executive or SED state leadership, where she was initially responsible for women, then for culture and education.

From 1947 to 1950 she was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament and was chairwoman of the committee for culture and popular education there from June 1950 to October 1952. In 1948/1949 she was a member of the People's Council and in 1949/1950 a member of the GDR Land Chamber.

From 1950 she was a candidate, from 1952 to 1954 a member of the Central Revision Commission of the SED, in 1951 she was also a member of the special commission to review the members of the SED State Association of Brandenburg. From 1952 to 1961 she acted as second secretary of the SED district leadership in Potsdam (responsible for management and organizational issues), from 1961 to 1968 as secretary of the district peace council and the district committee Potsdam of the National Front .

From 1968 she worked on a voluntary basis as deputy chairwoman of the women's commission of the SED district leadership in Potsdam, and from 1969 to 1971 as a research assistant in the SED district leadership in Potsdam.
