Margarita Marbler , née Olejnikowa (born July 16, 1975 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky , Soviet Union ) is an Austrian freestyle skier . She is a two-time bronze medalist at world championships and a multiple Olympic participant . Her specialty disciplines are moguls and dual moguls.

Career

Margarita Marbler is one of the world's best freestylers, especially in the mogul discipline ( moguls ). In this competition, the Austrian with the highest score among women and the perfect airscore currently holds two world records. The athlete met her former husband Harald Marbler in the World Cup circuit and moved to Austria in 1995. The only 1.56 m tall athlete has been a member of the ÖSV national team since 1996 and competes for the Freestyle Club Villach . Margarita Marbler lives with her " Husky " in Radenthein ( Carinthia ).

She celebrated her greatest success so far by winning the bronze medal in mogul skiing at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2005 in Ruka, Finland . She was able to repeat this success two years later at the World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio in the Dual Moguls. In addition, she won the overall World Cup in the Dual Moguls discipline (parallel moguls) in 2003 and participated in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 and in Turin in 2006 . In Salt Lake City she finished 10th in the Moguls, in Turin she injured her ankle in training and did not get past 17th place in the final due to the injury. At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , she was sixth and therefore best European in the moguls. In the individual World Cup she has so far achieved several victories and top placements.

Records

Margarita Marbler holds two world records in the Mughal discipline. When she won the World Cup in Tignes on December 1, 2002, she achieved 28.33 points, the highest score ever achieved by women. In addition, she received a perfect air score of 7.50 points in this competition , the highest score that any person has ever achieved. At the FIS competition in Jisan, South Korea on February 8, 2004, she surpassed her record from 2002 and reached 28.36 points, the highest score ever in a Moguls competition among women.
