The Dormition Chapel ( Serbian : Капела Успења Пресвете Богородице, Kapela Uspenja Presvete Bogorodice ) in Ljeb , a village in Opština Stanari west of Doboj , is a Serbian Orthodox cemetery chapel in Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The chapel , built from 1996 to 1998, belongs to the parish Osredak , in the deanery Teslić of the eparchy Zvornik - Tuzla of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The chapel is dedicated to the asleep of Our Lady of God .

location

The village of Ljeb has around 350 inhabitants and belongs to the Opština Stanari. The Opština Stanari is located in the Republika Srpska , the predominantly Serbian part of Bosnia and Herzegovina .

history

The construction of the Dormition Chapel, with the dimensions 7 x 4 m, started in 1996. Two years later, on May 31, 1998, the chapel was consecrated by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy .

The parish Osredak, founded in 2000, consists of the villages: Osredak , Ljeb and Dragalovci , as well as the hamlet Stupa , which belongs to the village of Rastuša in the Opština Teslić . Before the founding of the current parish, the villages belonged to the Rastuša parish, with its Parish Church of the Protection and Intercession of the Virgin Mary . The Serbian Orthodox cemetery on which the chapel is located dates from the 19th century.

architecture

Next to the simple single-nave chapel is a simple metal bell tower with a bell. This bell was purchased in Slovenia . A simple wooden cross stands on the bell tower and on the chapel . The chapel facade is white, while the roof is covered with simple orange tiles.
