Church of the Protection of the Virgin Mary
Mariä-Schutz-Kirche is a church , monastery church or chapel that is consecrated to the Mother of God as patron saint . It is not a patronage in the strict sense, the patronage festival is the day of the local devotion to Mary.
introduction
The veneration of the Blessed Mother as a protective helper is old; the hymn Sub tuum praesidium (under thy protection and shield) is one of the oldest known Marian prayers ( Marian antiphons ).
