The Roman Catholic parish church of the Assumption is the village church of Langenleiten , a district of Sandberg in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . The church is one of the architectural monuments of Sandberg and is registered under the number D-6-73-162-13 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Langenleiten is part of the parish community "Die Walddörfer".

history

Langenleiten used to be a branch of the parish Premich . In 1820 (a year earlier in the representation of the parish) the place became an independent parish. According to the parish, the core of the church was built between 1776 and 1781. The eastern part of the nave and the choir were built in 1910. The church tower is a new building from 1962 because the old church tower was dilapidated.

description

The 32 meter high church tower is in the west. Like its predecessor, it has an onion cap . The nave is divided into two parts: the early classical western part with a gable roof and the neo-baroque eastern part with a mansard roof . The eastern part is wider and higher than the western part. The choir forms the eastern end of the church.

Furnishing

The furnishings were created throughout the 18th century. The rotated columns of the high altar with the central figure of Mary in a halo indicate the Rococo style . The columns on the side altars and the pulpit are straight. This makes them more classicistic, like the case of the organ on the western gallery .

Bells

The church has a four-part bell. The tone sequence is f sharp '- g sharp' - h '- c sharp ”.
