Maria Assunta Arbesser von Rastburg (born March 1, 1884 in Venice , † January 13, 1971 in Graz ) was an Austrian painter and wood sculptor.

Life

Maria Assunta Arbesser was born on March 1st, 1884 in Venice as the daughter of the landscape and architectural painter Josef Arbesser von Rastburg . She spent her childhood in Venice and Graz, sometimes with her grandparents. Her maternal grandfather, Josef Anton Streintz, who comes from the renowned Graz medical family Streintz, was one of the first homeopaths in Austria.

Maria Assunta Arbesser von Rastburg studied at the Landscape Drawing Academy (Steiermärkische Landeskunstschule) in Graz with Hermann von Königsbrunn , with Marie Egner in Vienna , again in Graz with Alfred Zoff and Wilhelm Gösser , then with Theodor Hummel and Heinrich Knirr in Munich . She also stayed in Florence for a long time . From 1921 she lived as a freelancer in Graz and worked from 1928 to 1932 as a drawing teacher at the Sacre Coeur women's high school . She was a member of the Styrian Association of Visual Artists . Maria Assunta Arbesser von Rastburg died on January 13, 1971 in Graz.
