Maria Fris

Maria Fris (born June 8, 1932 in Berlin , † May 27, 1961 in Hamburg ) was a German ballerina . She was a prima ballerina at the Hamburg State Opera .

life and work

Maria Fris had her first solo appearance at the age of 16 and was a student of Tatjana Gsovsky at the Berlin Opera. She danced alongside Gertrud Kückelmann in the musical film Das tanzende Herz as well as in television shows in the 1950s and 1960s.

In 1960 she was engaged as the first solo dancer at the Hamburg State Opera together with Rainer Köchermann. After a tendon strain in both ankles, she had to take a long break. She committed the Hamburg Opera House suicide . Her urn was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery.
