Maria Hanau-Strachwitz

Maria Hanau-Strachwitz (born September 3, 1922 in Baden near Vienna ) is an Austrian writer .

Maria Strachwitz attended schools in Innsbruck , Vienna and Ascot, among others . In 1938 she emigrated to England , but returned to Vienna in 1947. There she worked as the chief secretary of the program director for the station Rot-Weiß-Rot .

She married on June 15, 1948 at Friedberg Castle near Volders in Tyrol, Prince Carl Heinrich von Hanau- Schaumburg (born April 27, 1923 in Vienna ; † February 16, 1998 in Munich ), the eldest son of Heinrich von Hanau and Maria Theresia born . Countess Fugger von Babenhausen (1899–1994). The marriage had two children:

  1. Franziska Elisabeth Maria Antonia Princess von Hanau Countess von Schaumburg (born October 27, 1954 in Munich) and
  2. Philipp Fürst von Hanau (born June 26, 1959 in Munich)

Since 1957 Strachwitz published numerous books and translations under the name Maria Hanau-Strachwitz . She currently lives in Starnberg and spends part of the year at Meiselberg Castle in Carinthia .
