production

The recording was first broadcast on the day after Friedrich Schiller's death (May 9, 1805) , on May 10, 1959, on the German TV channel . With this representative self-production, the broadcaster wanted to commemorate the great German classical poet on the occasion of his 200th birthday in 1959.

Maximilian Jäger was responsible for the dramaturgy. The set design and the costumes were created by Erich Geister .

criticism

Erwin Reiche writes in the Berliner Zeitung that it testifies to the seriousness and skill of the director, how he captured the roaring stream of the effective classic as a chamber play, condensed the drama acoustically and optically and made it vivid with excellent actors.
