Friedrich Richter , actually Friedrich Rosenthal (born June 5, 1894 in Brno , † March 3, 1984 in Berlin (other sources Hohen Neuendorf ) ), was a German stage, film and television actor.

life and work

Richter first completed an acting training in Vienna before he had his first stage appearance in Brno in 1921. This was followed by appearances on the stages in Prague , Vienna, Breslau , Stuttgart and Düsseldorf . In 1928 he joined the KPD . 1930–1932 he worked at agitprop theaters in the Rhineland and the Ruhr area . In 1933 he emigrated to the Czech Republic with his wife Amy Frank , and later to the Soviet Union . From 1938 engagements in theater, film and radio in England . In 1948 he returned to Germany and was a member of the Berlin Theater am Schiffbauerdamm . As one of the most famous actors at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, he worked there from 1952 to 1970, after which he worked as a freelancer. In film and television, Richter delivered numerous memorable character studies, many as a scientist , doctor , lawyer or industrialist .

In 1985 the street in the Berlin district of Buch was named Friedrich-Richter-Straße.

He is buried with his wife in the French cemetery in Berlin-Mitte.
