Julius Micklitz
Julius Micklitz (born April 12, 1821 in German Paulowitz , Austrian Silesia , † April 3, 1885 in Freiwaldau ) was an Austrian prince-bishop chief forest master and forestry author .
Life
Julius Micklitz was born into the forester family of Franz Josef Micklitz (1784–1860) and his wife Anna Sophia Schnirch (1792–1824). His brother was the Oberlandforstmeister and Ministerialrat in the kk agriculture ministry Robert Micklitz (1818–1898). Julius was married to Klothilde Therese Johanna Hofmann (* 1831) from Ober Langendorf ( North Moravia ). Their son was Theodor Hugo Micklitz (born November 8, 1856 in Freiwaldau, † January 11, 1922 in Vienna ), who u. a. Court hunting director at the court of Emperor Franz Joseph I and professor at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna . Theodor is buried in the family grave of his uncle Robert in the Hietzinger Friedhof in Vienna Group 17, Row 2. Rudolf Micklitz (* around 1896; † June 21, 1946) lies next to him in the family grave.
Micklitz learned his trade from 1839 to 1841 at the Hoch- und Deutschmeister in Hrabin (Hrabyně) , after which he studied from 1841 to 1843 at the Mariabrunn Forest Academy . With the end of his studies, he took the place of a forest official actuary serving the Catholic nobility Community of the Teutonic Knights in Upper Langendorf and was in 1846 top rangers in Karlsbrunn (Karlova Studánka) . In 1861 he was appointed chief forest master of the Breslau dioceses , in which position he remained until his death in 1885. He died of severe heart and kidney disease.
Micklitz earned significant merits in the upbringing of storm-proof forest coats in wind-torn forest stands through reforestation in the high fracture areas and through the creation of appropriate forest path networks . He was a member of the Moravian- Silesian Forest Association and was a member of the examination board of the state forestry examination in Opava .
