The pregnant Brigitte is looking for a furnished room, but ultimately only finds a connecting room at Frau Klucke's in Florentiner Str. 73 in Berlin . After Brigitte is initially quite disappointed that all possible residents and their guests are passing through the room, she gets used to this condition over time. The landlady takes care of her like a mother and she soon became fond of the characteristics of the Florentine residents.

The first broadcast in the 1st program of the DFF took place on February 6, 1972 and the film was shown in cinemas from May 19, 1972. The comedy was so successful that the sequel Neues aus der Florentiner 73 was filmed. The film was shot on Winsstrasse.
