Tinko is a DEFA children's film from 1957 by Herbert Ballmann . It is a film adaptation of the youth book Tinko by Erwin Strittmatter .

action

In the post-war period in rural Brandenburg , the boy Tinko experienced the events surrounding the return of a “homecomer”, namely his father Ernst, and the social conflicts during the collectivization of agriculture in the GDR.

Tinko's grandfather Kraske defends himself against collectivization: with the land reform shortly after 1945 he rose to become a farmer and is based on the farmer Kimpel. At some point he wants to have a large farm that his beloved grandson Tinko can take over.

On the other hand, Ernst, returning from the war, who later moved in with the resettler Clary, is in favor of collectivization and so there is a break between father and son. Tinko, who stands between the two, opts for his grandfather because his father is a stranger to him. It was only later, under the influence of the new teacher Kern, among other things, that Tinko realized that his father was right. He builds a relationship with him. In the end, his grandfather continues to work unapologetically on his farm and finally dies exhausted before his time.

production

Tinko was premiered on March 29, 1957 in Berlin's “Babylon” . With Josef Sieber , an actor took over the role of grandfather, who had previously appeared in Ufa films and German homeland films.
