life and work
At the age of 16, Hans Hardt left his middle-class parents to work on a touring stage. He later completed an acting course and made a guest appearance at the Millowitsch Theater in Cologne. During the time of National Socialism he also worked on stages outside of Germany, namely in Vienna, Brussels and Argentina.
After the end of the war he became senior director of the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk in Leipzig before he finally came to the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam in 1960 through stage activities in Meiningen (1952–1957), Eisleben, Wittenberg, Döbeln and the Berliner Ensemble , where he worked as an actor until 1969 . Since 1969 he has belonged to the ensemble of the German TV radio (DFF) .
His film and television activities began in 1956 with the youth film Tinko , directed by Herbert Ballmann . During the shooting of Kurt Maetzig's two-parter Schlösser und Katen , in 1956 he acted as a parallel cast of the main role for 23 days of shooting, as the lead actor Raimund Schelcher endangered the shooting due to his alcohol addiction. More than 100 film and television appearances followed, mostly in minor supporting roles, including some DEFA films such as Naked Among Wolves or The Sons of the Great Bear .
