The Weißeck is with a height of 2711 m above sea level. A. the highest mountain in the Radstädter Tauern and both a popular ski tour destination in winter and a destination for ascents in summer. The mighty rock figure takes its name from the bright weather stone dolomite from which the mountain is built.
The summit of the Weisseck is located on the municipal boundary between the national park community Muhr and the nature park community Zederhaus .
The starting point for tours to the Weißeck is on the one hand the Riedingtal in Zederhaus and on the other hand the Sticklerhütte (1,752 m) in the upper Murtal. The marked normal route from the Riedingscharte over the west ridge to the summit only requires a little surefootedness, but is generally not difficult .
There are also some legends around and about the Weisseck, the best known is probably the one about the Weisseck dog. The Weißeck is also very popular with mineral collectors, it has been a well-known find area for fluorite since ancient times .
