The Roman Catholic pilgrimage church Maria am Sandbichl in the Austrian municipality of Reißeck is under canon law a branch church of the Kolbnitz parish church .

history

In 1716 the farmer Ruep Stragainig built a wooden chapel. It was replaced by a stone building in 1739, which was consecrated in 1759. In 1834 the chapel was enlarged.

description

The church is a single-nave building with a polygonal choir , a wooden roof turret and a sacristy extension in the north. A burr-shaped vaulted cap rises above the interior rounded choir .

The nave is divided into three bays by pilasters and belt arches between the vault fields. The medallions in the vault of the choir and nave are decorated with painted scenes from the life of Mary .

The sacrificial altar from the middle of the 18th century has rich sculptural decorations. Of the Coronation of the Virgin Group at the altar the Virgin Mary was stolen and replaced with a 1994 created by Campidell figure. The top picture shows St. Florian .

The pulpit was built in 1834, the Stations of the Cross around 1750. A votive painting marked 1714 hangs on the north wall of the nave .
