The Mariahilf Platz is a square right of the Isar in Munich district Au-Haidhausen .
Centrally located in the suburb of Au , Mariahilfplatz is a well-attended and lively place. Since 1905 it has been the stand of the famous Auer Dult three times a year , a mixture of a fair with stalls by hawkers and a folk festival with various amusement and traditional rides .
The square is dominated by the neo-Gothic Mariahilfkirche , which is located in the middle of the square. To the east of the square, behind the monastery of the poor school sisters, runs the Auer Mühlbach , one of Munich's remaining city streams. There are the also at Mariahilf Platz district office Munich , the health department of the district of Munich, the state primary school at Mariahilf Platz, the police station 21 and the building of up to 2009 resident youth detention center and a women's section of the prison Neudeck .
traffic
Ohlmüllerstraße runs south of the square and connects the Au and Giesing with the western side of the Isar. Due to its location close to the city center, parking spaces around Mariahilfplatz are always scarce, especially during the Auer Dult.
By public transport , Mariahilfplatz can be reached by tram line 18 (Mariahilfplatz stop), MetroBus 52 (Mariahilfplatz, Schweigerstraße stops) and MetroBus 62 (Schweigerstraße stop).
