Marian Hurtík began his coaching career in 1983 with the then second division club Augsburger EV . He supervised the AEV for two seasons and was able to achieve second place in the southern group twice with the club during this time and thus successfully qualify for the finals. There he placed himself with his team in third place in the table, which was not enough for promotion to the Bundesliga. After a one-year and a two-year engagement at EC Bad Nauheim and EV Ravensburg , he joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 1988. There he was active as a junior and assistant trainer until 1991.

This was followed by further positions at EC Bad Nauheim, at Braunlager EHC / Harz, at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers and again between 2000 and 2001 at EC Bad Nauheim. After a one-year break, he moved to Switzerland for the 2002/03 season for EHC Saastal, where he worked as a coach with the gang for a year. He then supervised the HC La Chaux-de-Fonds in the second highest Swiss league, the National League B . In 2005, Hurtík returned to Germany and signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies, where he worked as a youth coach for the Kassel ice hockey youth until 2005.

After he was in charge of the Bayern league team Pinguine Königsbrunn between 2005 and 2007 , the people in charge of the then top division club Dresdner Eislöwen transferred him to Dresden . There he was released in January 2008 and replaced by the German-Czech Jan Tábor .

From November 2009 to March 2010, Hurtík looked after the upper division EV Landsberg as head coach after Norbert Zabel had resigned there at the end of October.
