Marie Luise Charlotte von Hessen (born May 9, 1814 in Copenhagen , Denmark ; † July 28, 1895 in Hohenburg Castle , Lenggries , Kingdom of Bavaria ) was born a member of the Hessen-Kassel branch of the House of Hesse and by marrying the House of Anhalt- Dessau .

family

Maria Luise Charlotte was born as the second daughter of Wilhelm von Hessen , titular Landgrave of Hessen-Kassel from the Hessen-Rumpenheim sideline , and his wife Louise Charlotte of Denmark . She was the older sister of Louise of Hesse , Queen of Denmark.

Marriage and children

Marie Luise Charlotte married Friedrich August von Anhalt-Dessau , the son of Hereditary Prince Friedrich von Anhalt-Dessau and his wife Amalie von Hessen-Homburg , on September 11, 1832 in Rumpenheim Castle . They had three daughters:

⚭ 1851 Duke Adolf von Nassau (1817–1905), later Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
  • Bathildis (1837-1902)
⚭ 1862 Prince Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe (1834–1906)
  • Hilda (1839-1926)

Through her daughter Adelheid, she is the ancestor of the current Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
