Marien Hospital Wattenscheid 2007

The Marien-Hospital Wattenscheid is a hospital in the Bochum district of Wattenscheid . It belongs to the Catholic Clinic Bochum (KKB) and is the location of the Center for Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Rehabilitation. In 2018, approx. 3500 patients in the acute area and approx. 1500 cared for in rehabilitation. More than 500 people are employed. This makes the Marien Hospital one of the largest geriatrics in Germany.

history

The hospital was founded in 1880 and was one of two basic care hospitals in Wattenscheid until 1997, along with the neighboring Martin Luther Hospital . When hospital beds had to be dismantled in the 1990s because of an overhang in the Bochum area, the Marien Hospital was transformed in 1997 into a special clinic for acute geriatric treatment and rehabilitation. The model project was supported by the state and federal government with 13 million DM and cost a total of 45 million DM.

Furnishing

The Marien Hospital has an acute clinic for medical hospital treatment of the elderly, which has had 70 beds since 2011, as well as a rehabilitation clinic with 100 beds and a day clinic with 30 places. In 2012, a comfort ward with 35 private beds was also built. This makes the Marien Hospital the “nationwide largest center for geriatric medicine”.

Computed tomography , magnetic resonance tomography and a heart catheter laboratory are available 24 hours a day , among other things . The offers also include sleep apnea diagnostics . The association "Rehabilitation and health sports at Marien-Hospital Wattenscheid eV" has been affiliated to the Marien Hospital since 2012.

After the house was incorporated into the Katholisches Klinikum Bochum (KKB) in 2014 , it expanded the new building by three more wards, into which the geriatric department of the St. Maria-Hilf Hospital, which also belongs to the KKB, moved in in 2016.
