Havran is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . The city is located about 70 kilometers west of the center of Balıkesir . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is geographically identical to the district. According to the city logo, it received the status of a Belediye in 1923 .
The district is located in the west of the province. It borders in the northeast with Balya , in the southeast with İvrindi , in the southwest with Burhaniye , in the west with Edremit and in the north with the province Çanakkale . The county seat is on the D230 road from Edremit to Balıkesir. The Havran Çayı River of the same name flows through Havran and flows into the Gulf of Edremit about 14 kilometers to the west . The Havran Dam is 7 km east of Havran . In the west of the district are the foothills of the Kaz Dağı , the ancient Ida Mountains , in the southeast of the Kocadağ .
