Bigadiç is a town in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . The city is located about 35 kilometers southeast of the center of Balikesir . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is identical in terms of area and population to the district. According to the city logo, Bigadiç received the status of a Belediye as early as 1810 .
The district is in the east of the province. It borders on Kepsut to the north, Dursunbey to the northeast , Sındırgı to the south and the central district to the west . The D-555 road from Balıkesir to Sındırgı runs through the city. The city lies on the western slope of the Alacam Dağı mountain range , also called Ulus Dağı , to the west of the city is the Simav Çayı , the ancient Makestos. About ten kilometers northeast of Bigadiç is the Çamköy Barajı reservoir .
There are extensive deposits of boron in the county .
