İvrindi is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Balıkesir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Balıkesir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . The city is located about 35 kilometers west of the center of Balıkesir . Since a regional reform in 2012, the district town is geographically identical to the district. The place was raised to Belediye (according to the city logo) in 1944 .
The district is located in the west of the province. It is bordered by Havran to the west, Balya to the north, the central district and Savaştepe to the east, and Manisa Province to the south . The county seat is on the D-230 road from Edremit to Balıkesir. In the north of İvrindi the Manyas Çayı (also called Kocaçay or Madra Deresi ) flows through the district and crosses the lake Yeşilköy Göleti about five kilometers north . In the west of the district lie the foothills of the Kocadağ mountain range .
